Blaxploitation films of the 1970s typically featured African American leads and highlighted issues of racial identity, empowerment, and social justice. These films often addressed themes such as systemic racism, urban crime, and the struggles of Black communities, all while incorporating elements of action, drama, and humor. The genre also sought to challenge stereotypes by portraying strong, complex Black characters, often in positions of power and agency. While they were criticized for some of their portrayals, these films significantly influenced cinema and cultural representation.
