Food in st. Lucia has a very creole flavour. There is also Indian culture and so curry is a prominent spice. The food consists of root tubers to green bananas. Every type of meat is eaten and food is an important part of the social atmosphere.

Answer

The cuisine of St Lucia is influenced by West Indian, Creole and French food. Popular dishes are pepper pot stew, callaloo soup and fried codfish.

Shellfish and fish are caught daily. Salt fish is used in a number of recipes. Vegetables include cassava, dashing (taro) and sweet potatoes. Breadfruit is also grown.

Fruits cultivated are bananas, coconuts, guavas, mangoes, papayas, passion fruit, pineapples and Sousa's

Fresh fruit juices are available and alcoholic drinks, such as beer (Pitons) and rum (Bounty), are brewed locally.

The food eaten in St. Lucia is not much different from what is eaten in America. They eat the same things but cook them differently and add pepper and sauce.

They eat bananas, lots of other fruit, fish and a lot of peppers,HOT PEPPERS. Even the hottest in the world.

Answer

Natives of the Island of St. Lucia eat foods that vary largely based on the financial abilities of the individual. For the poorer members of the society the diet consists mainly of what is commonly grown or readily available in their particular region of the island which often relies heavily on root vegetables and different preparations of the green banana which is one of the main exports of the island along with the fruit of the breadfruit tree.

In some localities found near tourist centers more "westernized" meals are very common but this is rare in poorer sections of the island. The diet of the residents of the Island of St. Lucia also relies heavily on the vast variety of fruits and vegetables which grow abundantly in the island's tropical climate.

The coconut plant is also a primary dietary item in various cakes, pies, and other food preparations. Legumes are used liberally and a large supply of other food products are imported to further enhance the dietary habits of this island. The main meat products consumed are fish, chicken, and pork. Sweets are plentiful and small bakeries can be found in most localities.
