As well as being the second longest river in the world, it has many roles, like watering many different diveristies of animals, from minor animals right up to the large animals such as the big cats of south america. It also has one of the largest spreads of area fed.

Houses many different animals, such as the boto(amazon river dolphin), piranha, and some bull sharks.

Also accounts for around one fifth the worlds river flow

The Amazon river spans 3 countries...Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.
