Aerodynamic buffeting is a vibration (sometimes violent) that is felt in the airframe and controls of an aircraft. It is brought on by the separation of the boundary layer of air that normally flows along the wing or tail. It is usually associated with slow speed and high angle of attacks, but can also be brought on by high (near-supersonic) speeds as well.
