Russian roulette is a life and death game that involves traditionally two players, a revolver, and one bullet. The bullet is placed in a chamber of the gun's cylinder, the cylinder is spun, and one player aims the revolver at their head and pulls the trigger. if the gun does not go off the second player repeats the actions of the first. Depending on the players, the cylinder of the gun may or may not be spun again. Play continues until one player blows their brains out and ends the contest. It can involve up to 14 players, depending on the cycle, and no one looses except the person who shot themselves with the one bullet. It is known as Russian roulette because of the alleged country of origin. However, there is no reference to it in the Russian literature except in the book by Mikhail Lermontov called "The Hero of Our Time" (2010). In the story "The Beauty and the Beast", Russian officers argue over "strippers" and whether God determines the fate of the female.

A Serbian officer named Vuich then approaches them, asks for a gun (a single shot, muzzle loaded pistol), and after men place bets he takes a shot at his forehead. The gun misfires. They fire the gun again and it blasts off a cap that hung on the nipple. Vuich walks away with all the strippers. Later that night however, Vuich is murdered by a drunken Cossack.
