In the original 1900 book edition, and the beloved 1939 film version, of 'The Wizard of Oz', Glinda the Good Witch has no last name. But decades later, her last name is revealed in 'Wicked'. According to the 1995 book edition, and the 2003 stage version, of 'Wicked', Glinda is descended by her mother from the noble Arduennas clan of the Upper Uplands. At Shiz University, she goes by the name of Galinda Upland. Subsequently, she drops the first 'a' in her first name, to be called forever after Glinda.
