"You filthy little..." is all he says, but later in the book you learn that he probably said "Jew" but Bruno didn't know what it meant at that time.

β 10y agoBruno's father found out that lietenant kotler's father was an unregistered academic (academics were executed in the holocust) so lieutenant kotler was transferred to the Russian Front.
He was sent to the front line when he failed to inform his commandant (or anyone else) that his father had disagreed with the country and moved away ( to Finland I think).!
If you were wondering then he probably was killed or remarkably live (but then again !)

β 10y agoLieutenant Kurt Kotler is a Nazi soldier. Gretel has a crush on him, but he has an affair with mother. He hides the fact that his father was a Jew from the commandant. In the film he's played by Rupert Friend.Also Gretel tries to flirt with him like dancing aroung in order to get attention but the fact that shes 13 years old and hes only like 19 years old.Hope this helped.

β 11y agoThe Boy In The Striped Pyjamas Lieutenant Kotler likes to hurt people like Pavel (the waiter.) He accidentally spilled wine over his lap and he got very mad and he hurt him. He also shot a dog for barking! He is only 19 years old and he is flirting with Bruno's mother! He is a very strange and mean man but he is a very good character in the book.

β 11y agoLieutenant kolter is transferred because his farther left to a different country so that he didn't have to fight the war. Because his farther left he had to serve his farthers time. I do not know why bruno hated hitler
