Both have English as the main language. Both are classed as Western countries. Both are stable democracies though the US is a republic and England as part of the UK is a democratci monarchy. The cultures in many ways are similar, though there are differences too.

The US and England may have differences, but they're similar enough IMO. Most Britons that insist UK is very different from US are Scottish or Welsh, not English. England and the US are both developed nations. They're multicultural, use miles for distance, and have a variety of accents (US - GenAm, New York, Boston, Southern drawl etc. England - RP, Cockney, Lancashire, Geordie etc..). The largest cities of both countries are similar in population (NYC 8 million and London 7.5 million). Both countries were or are involved in the Iraq, Afghanistan, and World Wars. At times there are tensions between races/ethnicities. (LA and Oldham riots). Though England drives on left, there are exceptions. Savoy Court and one-way lanes allow right lane driving just like the US.
