Basically, both are for same God (Allah in Arabic) worship.

There are some other similarities. Some of these are

- both are generally very tall with points reaching towards the heavens

- both are very majestic and beautiful

- both generally have a dome like shape on the inside except its not visible on church from the out side

- Both are a symbol of Grace and Power which Both religions have

- Both Mosques and Churches have a main Church/Mosque that are said to be the first of each ..... For Muslims, that would be Al- Masjid AL-Haram (the Grand Mosque) located in Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. For Christianity that would be the Vatican Cathedral located in Rome , Italy and Resurrection Cathedral located in Jerusalem (Palestine territories)

- Both generally depict past religious events more so on Cathedrals than the Mosques.

AnswerA church and a mosque are radically different. Churches are set up to have a worship room, offices, classrooms, kitchen, large area for fellowship, many bathrooms and often a school building. A Mosque has a large open area without pews. The pray on their knees on prayer mats while Christian usually have chairs or pews or benches and some will pray on their knees but not on a large tile floor. Mosques have breathtaking architecture. Some Christian churches, especially Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox or Russian Orthodox will have very spectacular churches with beautiful design. Most churches however are fairly simple due to the cost of constructing a building. A mosque will have some offices but they are not set up like Christian churches with lots of rooms and kitchens, etc. Muslims will often have a school for their kids but in the US this is not very common yet. A Mosque mostly known as a Masjid has beautiful patterns everywhere. A Mosque has a big bathroom where everyone needs to clean themselves, they don't have a shower they just wash their face etc. A Mosque also has classrooms (most of the times) where they teach others.
