To begin, you must forget the point that Jazz is created in the USA. Certainly it is typically American, however, Jazz Music took another dimension after a while.
Jazz is inclusive to all other types and styles of Music "whenever you don 't know what you are playing, it's Jazz" this quote was said in the film 1900, the pianist in the sea...

Actually, there are no exact similarities, you can say that all is similar apart from the degree of freedom Jazz gives to you, it's a huge amount of freedom to play on whatever scale, tone you want, but for sure, governed by some rules.
In a sense, jazz is the branch between the Romantic period (late Classical Music in the 1800's) and Rock and modern music. Jazz has much more freedom and emphasis on expression, while classical music was reserved and structured. Of course this is oversimplified. Some jazz characteristics are the emphasis on improvisation, freedom of expression (it's hard to play "wrong" notes in jazz), and a strong attachment to emotion. Classical music has charactersics of structured, many rules, and controlled beauty.
Both jazz and Gospel Music come from blues and they are similar in many ways. Some of these are that they both have a similar exciting groove and power and they are both of black origin.
The difference is that most gospel music is vocal whereas a large proportion of jazz is instrumental. Also, gospel music is almost always religious - jazz can be!
Do you mean the difference between classical music and film music?Classical music was composed in the period from 1550 to 1900 (more or less).Film music came into existence in the late 1800's/early 1900's.Film music often borrows elements from classical music, but from other music forms as well (for example jazz, and rock). Both music forms have also much in common. When you put on a dvd, turn off the sound from the tv, and put on a classical piece of music at the same time, the classical music can often compliment the movie you're watching!

Yes, many contemporary Canadians do like Jazz, and although rock, country, and dance music are much more popular, jazz fans are loyal and passionate about the music. There has been a long tradition of jazz music in Canada, and although much of the original jazz came from the US, thanks to radio, Canadian fans were introduced to the American jazz artists performing on the air. There is also evidence that American jazz performers went up to Canada to entertain audiences, as early as the 1910s. Jazz never became as popular in Canada as it did in the US, but there were a few Canadian-born jazz bands performing in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. I enclose a link to an excellent article on the history of jazz in Canada.

If the only two choices are pop or classical, I would have to pick pop. But I think jazz is pretty much it's own style.
Because the two are stylistically different.
