Corderoy is a woven fabric with a ribbed nap. It has no stretch. Chenille is a very soft ribbed knit which is stretchy. <><><> The difference is corduroy is soft and has vertical lines of felt-like material. Chenille is like a scratchy, very thin synthetic material with tiny holes in it, usually used in crafts. <><><> Opinions may vary as to the "feel" of a material so the best way to tell them apart is to actually test them for yourself. Just go into a shop that sells fabric and feel them.
