mule. When a male donkey is bred to a female horse, it is a mule. However, if the dad was a horse rather than a donkey, and the mother was a jenney(female donkey) instead of a mare (making the mother the father and the father the mother) you would get a Hinny. But since it was a donkey with a mare, it was just a plain old Mule.
A mule is the hybrid cross of a donkey jack for a father and a mare (horse) for a mother.
It's usually a horse. If it's a donkey, the animal is called a hinny. However, any two species of equid can be crossed, so the mother could be an onager and the father a kiang or a zebra.
Mules are sterile--they won't mate with a horse, a mule, a donkey, or any other animal. They aren't breedable. That being said, there are two cases known in which a mule mated and gave birth to another hybrid. There isn't a name for a mule/horse hybrid because it's so rare. The actual animals were named Blue Moon and Lightning Strikes.
They are called mules. Because of the cross-breeding, mules are always male. And seeing as this animal is the product of two different species, almost all mules are infertile to prevent the continuation of a so called corrupt gene pool.

A mule results from breeding a female horse (mare) with a male donkey (jack donkey or jackass). When the mother is a jenny donkey and the father a horse stallion, the baby is called a hinny.
An animal similar to the zebra. Horses are herbivorous mammals with a uni-hoof on each foot.

A horse whinnies.
A jinnet is the offspring of a horse and a donkey, where the donkey is the father. If the horse is the father, you get a solid, reliable mule. A jinnet, on the otherhand, is useless, lazy, and sterile...
