A Horror film is driven by a villain (mortal, supernatural or otherwise) that kills/stalks the cast. Vampire films, zombie films and monster films are by definition horror films. Horror films are intended to scare the audience, make them feel uncomfortable and shine a light on the darker more perverse side of society. They air a good no. of horror movies on HBO. YOu can watch it and know the true meaning of a horror movie for sure. It surely is a kickass experience.

Having a solid Makeup FX team will be essential if you want the horror that you are trying to convey to come off as real and not cheesy, and it would be in your best interest to get some downloadable editing software and FX software. Music, or rather a score, is incredibly important in setting the tone for terror so you will want to keep this in mind as well. And lastly you will want to get somebody who can actually film events or movies as opposed to someone who can just hold a camera and shoot. The trained eye of a person who is really into Photography will give your film more depth and feeling since the shots will be set up to go for maximum emotion and mood as opposed to just shooting anywhere that you can find.
