In one episode his son nearly froze to death and he was thought to be dead but he turned out to be alive. He then died in the hospital. Mike Franks took his son's wife and daughter back to Mexico with him.

I understand the confusion though, because when we first time saw the child and the wife we saw that the wife was black and religious, but now she is neither religious or black. We also saw that the child was white but now the child isn't..

I also think that the child was shown as a boy first time but now its shown as a girl.

Btw, the "first" episode is called Iceman.
