Wait a minute!! Is the land portion of the border in whole or in part?

If the shared border has to be entirely by land, then Washington, Minnesota, New York, New Hampshire and Maine would have to be disqualified. That would leave Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Vermont and Alaska as the only states that qualify.

The US States that share a land border with Canada are: Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

In addition, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania share a border with Canada across Lakes Superior, Huron and Erie.
