I guess some of the problems could be that the people are getting diseases and dying, they don't have good structured homes, and the people are starving... I think but a definite on the 1st one
Some of the major problems in Africa involve poverty, and HIV's. I am going to focus on HIV's. There has been at least 2 million deaths from aids already, just in Africa. Many countries in Africa have been decreasing their life expectancy and increasing their Infant Mortality Rate because of aids and HIV's. Also their are 33.4 million people living with an HIV in Africa. In 2000 their were 24 million Africans infected with HIV's. With out proper medical equipment nearly all of them will die before 2010. Around 390,000 children have been infected with HIV's in 2008. This happened by the mother having an HIV and the child obtaining it either from childbirth, pregnancy, or breast feeding. More than half of the people in the world with aids live in Africa. Also, more than three fourths of the people who have died from aids in 2005 have been from Africa.. Another huge problem in Africa is poverty. 1 in 2 people in South Suburban Africa live on less than one dollar a day. Also 33% of Africa's population suffer from malnutrition. Less than 50% of Africans don't have access to doctors! Also 1 in 6 children die before the age of 5. Less than 20% of Africans have electricity! Africa has the 2nd lowest GDP per capita too. This problem didn't just start in 2 days it took many years of bad governing. I don't believe we can fix this problem right away but we can sure improve these problems
Africa has the potential to become prosperous and experience a higher standard of living for most of its people but rampant corrupt and over population, will probably keep the continent from ever making the changes needed. Africa, is blessed with tremendous Natural Resources, including oil and gas reserves, but political corruption and civil wars in many countries, prevent reforms from taking place. South Africa is the only country in sub-saharan Africa, that has the infrastructure and a strong middle class, to succeed! The problems facing most of these countries are so daunting and pervasive and seem unable to ever improve and hence, many development countries have grown wary to provide financial assistance.
