The Texas Chainsaw Massacre never happened in real life. It's a fictional story. See the Related Question below.
If you are referring to the person, Leather Face, then no. It was not a real person. The story and family was loosely based off of the famous Serial Killer, Ed Gein. He did have some masks made of human flesh, however the story of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was made up so this chainsaw wielding masked murderer was not in jail...or any jail in all for he is not real.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre never happened in real life. It is fiction. Tobe Hooper got the idea for the Leatherface character from the serial killer Ed Gein (who lived in Wisconsin), but other than that, it is entirely fictional. See the Related Question below for more information. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre movie was filmed in Austin, Round Rock and Bastrop, Texas, and lasted for four weeks.
Not in the least. It is VERY loosely based on the exploits of real life murderer, Ed Gein, but he never did the kinds of murders shown in the films. He did create grisly human remains based art which is shown in the original, was an alleged cannibal, and a grave robber, but that was about it.

The scene makes it seem so.
no, because everything happened in Goliad it began in 1974 and died in 2012
There may have been mentions of it in the news in the movie review sections when it was released in the theatres. But aside from that, no. It is just a movie.
Sorry, there is/was no such person as "Leatherface", nor was there ever a real Texas Chainsaw Massacre in Texas or any other location in the world for that matter. The story is VERY LOOSELY based upon Ed Gein, a man from Plainfield, Wisconsin in the 1950's, who murdered only a few women and used parts of their bodies for clothing and furniture. There wasn't even a chainsaw involved in the murders. Ed's story inspired many fictional stories and movies including Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, the movie Ed Gein, Three on a Meathook, Deranged, and several others. He was eventually caught and put in a mental institution in Wisconsin. He never entered the Texas justice system as thought by many. Gein never even visited Texas in his life. He died in Wisconsin in 1984 in a mental institution of natural causes. The story of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is an original idea created by Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel in 1973. Tobe knew of the story of Ed Gein and incorporated his idea of using a chainsaw to create the Leatherface character. If there ever was any "chainsaw massacre" of any kind, anywhere, it is totally unrelated, completely coincidental and had no bearing or impact on Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel's creative process during the production of their 1974 film. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a HUGE urban legend known by many people around the world. If your friend or family member swears that it happened, or they personally knew Leatherface in prison, etc., they're not alone. They're either lying or they themselves have been lied to.However in the Movie's:5 People are killed in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)7 People are killed in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)6 People are killed in Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990)4 People are killed in Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1994)5 People are killed in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)6 People are killed in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)

Amazon dot com or Deep Discount DVD dot com would have it. So would almost any store that sells movies.
The Texas chainsaw massacres is a spin off of Ed Gein, a man from northern Wisconsin who would dig up bodies and use their faces and other body parts to make masks and furniture. The only difference is that Ed Gein never actually murdered any body.
This is a difficult question but I'll give it a shot. well if you saw the Texas chainsaw massacre the beginning it explains more than any of the others in the series. The small town where the killers live their meat factory closes down for like unsanitary conditions so they start killing people and eating them. T.T.C.M. the beginning is more depressing and disturbing than scary. still worth watching.
