if you read the book series (by Dave barry) they say Tinkerbell is a pixie.
Also where do you think they came up with pixie dust?
in the first movie they also say shes a pixie same in the second except when Jane says i don't belive in fairys but they only did that because it sounded better probably but you have to trust the first and the books.
Also according to the original Peter Pan book. According to mythology they will pix you with their dust (sometimes will itch or other times it will put a spell on you)and in modern lit they are at war with the faeries over gardens and special areas where they raise their families.
but she could be a fairy because there are many reasons why she can be so its whatever you want her to be. :)
~ This is a different person now. I'm just going to say, the book series by Dave Barry is not the original story of Peter Pan, and neither is the Disney movie. The book was originally written by J.M. Barrie, and he turned it into a play that has performed on Broadway. There are cinematic versions of Peter Pan out now, including the Disney one. In almost all of them (except the Disney one) they never call Tink a Pixie, but only a fairy. I have been wondering which she was, which is why I was lead to this site. I can't for the life of me remember if they refer to her as a pixie at all in the book. I have the feeling it is only in the Disney version that she started being reffered to as a pixie (and I definitely have seen Disney merch that says she's a pixie).
So my uneducated take would be that she is in fact a fairy, but the Disney version has made her a pixie and that's what she's mostly known for now.
