Autumn is a Season in the latter half of the calendar year, and as such is not confined to a specific month. It usually begins in mid-September and lasts until late November, but climatic conditions in any given year can result in it coming and ending earlier or later. It is characterised by the weather becoming colder, trees losing their leaves and plants and other foliage dying back, clearer skies, and a propensity for rain and snow, but Summers can also be very wet as well. It is NOT related to the shortening of the hours of the day, which begins after 21st June in the height of Summer- the days begin to get shorter during the Summertime, not in Autumn. Neither is it characterised by the change in stellar Constellations- these occur as a result of the Earth's orbit around the Sun, and are unrelated to the variable of Seasonal conditions.
