What is the similarities between Sentence and sentence fragments?

Somebody will have to improve on this answer. One similarity between a sentence and a sentence fragment could be a sentence's length. If somebody says, "Who did that?" you could answer, "I did," and that is a sentence... but in a different scenario, that may be considered a sentence fragment. Why? Because if that sentence was all by itself, "I did," would be nonsense. What did "I" do? "I did jump," could then complete it.

What was the last nation to abolish slavery in the Western Hemisphere?

The last nations to effectively abolish slavery were - strangely enough - African nations. Slavery of Africans by Africans had been and still was everywhere since time immemorial and the colonization drive of the 1880's started because the British (who had actively battled against the slave trade since they abolished it themselves in 1806) saw it as the only way to abolish it within Africa. West African countries were the last to formally abolish it, around 1905. These are countries like Upper Volta, Senegal, Mali and Niger, amongst others. However, slavery does still exist today. A fairly recent UN report estimates the number of slaves still held by countries on the Arab peninsula - despite formal abolishment in 1962 - at around a staggering 400,000.

Why is the death sentence banned is South Africa?

Why the union fought in the civil war?

To abolish slavery, or to keep it. The south wanted to keep it because they had fields where they grew crops such as cotton and therefore needed labor; the north wanted to abolish because they were slightly more advanced and had factories with no need for slaves.
