As I did my research of going through a list of famous people that had been diagnosed dyslexic, I see you were on the list.

The first time I had ever even heard of dyslexia is when Theo on The Cosby’s was diagnosed has having this learning disability.

I’ve become very interested in it now that my 12-year-old granddaughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia last year. For years I noticed the delays my granddaughter experienced but everyone kept saying she will grow out of it or as her parents were,

totally in denial. Then came the crying and making herself through up at home and in school. In 3rd grade is when she got an IEP which in turn she was in Special ED.

As she got older the acting out became a little more aggressive then finally her behavior counselor suggested she have a psychological evaluation. This is when she was found to have dyslexia and ADHD, and this was also the time when both her maternal grandmother and her mother admitted they were also dyslexic but never said anything. The problem is most teachers do not have the specialized training to teach a child with this learning disability. Schooling for this is extremely limited and when you do find one it will run you up to $39,000 a year and of course financial aid is first come first serve. I live in Harrisburg, PA the closes schools that would meet all her needs are in Conshohocken PA, Paoli PA and Wayne PA.

My question is that is if you have not already, ever considered starting a Scholarship Fund for Children with Dyslexia. You have firsthand experience of what children go through with Dyslexia.

I did apply for my granddaughter to attend Aim Academy in Conshohocken. They had an Online Summer Enrichment program which she did very well in and was excited about learning for the first time ever. Thank God I had the $2,500 for that 4-week ½ day program.

The bottom line I received a call yesterday that she had not been accepted because they were already at their capacity and they had no more financial aid available.
