I've caught it with a normal pokeball. If you're having trouble, try putting the koffing to sleep, then if it is in a cave or dark place in general, use a dusk ball. ---> (it is either called dusk or dark, im not sure which. read the definiton of the ball and if it says that it is easier catching the Pokemon in dark places then that is the ball you should use.
