Radio is characterised by its ability to carry information and disseminate that information from the transmission source to the recieiving audience and thereby inform a large group of individuals such as nations or cities. Additionally, Radio can disseminate information from a single source to many destinations, it has the ability to reach users separated by both time and space ( primarily space), you do not need a radio studio at home to listen to a programme, it allows for the commodification of the broadcast in that you only have to create the programme once to be able to broadcast it many times or to many people and finally that it encompasses both the business and technical aspects that are required to commercialise the platform.
