While I am not an expert, I do have a 7 year old boy who is VERY defiant at times. He stomps his feet and refuses to do even the littlest tasks we ask him. I have found that what works, is taking away video game, tv and computer privileges. If that doesn't work, taking away a favorite toy works also. It might seem harsh, but some kids don't respond to anything else.
Different answer:
How defiant is he? I also have a 7yr old. He doesn't care if you take away things or make him sit in time out. He goes back and continues to break the rules. If he is VERY defiant and angry you might need to look in to Oppositional Defiant Disorder. If he sometimes acts up I'd say its normal.
This boy may exhibit symptoms of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) characterized by a pattern of negative, hostile, and defiant behavior toward authority figures. A thorough evaluation by a mental health professional is needed for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
A normal 12 year old boy is probably around 5ft. and up. :)
It is not a normal thing for an 11-year-old boy to do.
Diagnosis!!? This is a normal, perfectly OK little boy. There are millions more just like him. Kids have to learn to get along in life . . . this 5-year-old boy is doing quite well in this learning curve.

Yes, it is normal for young children to explore their bodies, including touching their genitals. Parents can address this behavior by calmly explaining that it is something to be done in private, setting boundaries, and teaching about appropriate behavior and privacy. It is important for parents to handle the situation with understanding and sensitivity.
