LM doesn't exist as a Roman numeral. The L and the M would never go together in that order. The L before the M would be 950 but 950 as a Roman numeral is CML. C is 100 and M is 1000. Because the C is before the M it subtracts making 900. Then the L (50) is added to make 950.
