matlab stands for matrix laboratory.. the function of matlab to create different types of signal and observe them .and their are so many different functions of matlab like, simulink fuzzy logic,simply arithmetic ,GUI etc
Simulink provides a Simulink model for digital to analog converter. we can use such blocks or models for this purpose.You can use xPC target built in Simulink, but you will have buy a xPC card to install on your target computer and run it in host computer.
Xilinx is a package. Matlab is a package and language. Xilinx requires a HDL program to execute the required logic. Matlab requires the Matlab program for that purpose. Xilinx is used for digital electronics. Matlab is used for signal processing.
Simulink is a package that is available along with Matlab. But these two are licensed. These can not be downloaded for free. One can purchase the package.

Use a = power_analyze('simulink file name','ss') you will get the state space model for the same
