A few thoughts:
One of the best things to do when anyone is in emotional pain, is listen and validate them(James 1:19). Acknowledging that the pain they are feeling is real and important can help them feel heard and understood. At Proverbs 13:12 The Bible tells us that "Delayed hope makes the heart sick..."(HCSB), pointing out the fact that unfulfilled hope can cause us real pain.
Here are a few scriptural principles that might help:
**TIME. We need to allow ourselves time to grieve: Ecclesiastes 3:1+4 tells us that there is a time to weep and a time to wail.(Psalms 6:6) Emotional pain is exhausting and needs to be taken seriously.(Proverbs 17:22)(Proverbs 15:13)
Song of Solomon 8:6 says "Love is as strong as death"(NIV) so being love-sick can be very traumatic.
**ASSOCIATION. Proverbs 18:1 says that the "one who isolates himself pursues [selfish] desires; he rebels against all sound judgment."(HCSB) When suffering emotional pain, our thinking and reasoning is not always at it's best. We should continue to associate with non-judgemental people we are comfortable with.
**HEALTH. We must take care of our physical health, as it can also effect us emotionally: 1 Timothy 4:8 indicates that, though spiritual health is most important, physical health IS beneficial.(Proverbs 15:13)
**PRAYER. The most important thing we want to remember when we are suffering is turning to God in prayer. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to "Cast all your anxiety on (God) because he cares for you."(NIV) and Philippians 4:6+7 assures us:"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Everything will be ok. Tomorrow is another day and if we 'Keep seeking God's Kingdom and righteousness' ,everything we need will be given to us (Matthew 6:33).

Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
The shortest verse in the Christian Bible is John 11:35, "Jesus wept." The shortest verse in the Hebrew Bible is 1 Chronicles 1:25, which is just three names of a list: "Eber, Peleg, Reu." The shortest and longest verses are quite trivial and arbitrary. The Bible chapters we know today come from Archbishop Stephen Langton in the 1200s. The modern verse numbering was added later, with the Geneva Bible in 1560. So the length of verses is not a religious item of interest, but rather a more modern addition to help us study specific sections more easily.
An often quoted verse used to comfort people in times of fear or distress is Joshua 1:9 -"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (New International Version)Another verse is Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (New International Version)= =Another very good and well known verse is Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil; For You are with me;Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
No, the Bible never says that you cannot help others until you first help yourself.
The bible is important because many people have based their lives on its contents. Society's foundations are the words in the bible. For many people, the bible is their favourite book. A lot of what the bible says and encourages people to do is good and morally right. even if some people don't believe in all the things the bible says, most people still agree that many people have done good things because of what the bible says.also, it is important to read at least a basic children's bible because it will help you understand what many people believe in.I would like to say that the all of the above points are important for every religious book I know of.
