A:

A plausible conjecture is that the Book of Ruthwas written by a woman, but there is no evidence to support this. We simply do not know who the author was.

The Book of Esther is named after a woman, and some say it was written by Esther herself, while others say Mordecai. As it is a historical novel believed to have been written during the second century BCE, neither character in the book could have written it. Once again, we do not know who the anonymous author was.

The Book of Judith which is part of the deuterocanon, is very similar to the Book of Esther in that most scholars believe that the book is an early novel. The reason for this is the presence of several anachronisms in the text.
