Elijah is mentioned primarily in the First Book of Kings. This book describes the life and work of this great prophet to the Jews in great detail.

However, he also features briefly in the Second Book of Kings, and is mentioned in other books such as 2 Chronicles, Malachi and various brief references in the New Testament too, associated with John the Baptist, Jesus, in events such as the Transfiguration, in Luke, in Romans, in James and a few other places.
