I think it would be the different printings. Older ones usually are solid colors, while the newer ones I have seen are brown with some patterning on them. The colors denote who they are given to: brown is for personal witnessing, red is for 5th grade, green for college students, orange for sidewalks off school property, blue for service, white for nursing and medical employees, camo for armed services either green or brown camo. It helps in ordering for the different distributions.
Gideon's color-code Bibles/New Testaments for proper distribution. Orange is for sidewalk distribution to High Schoolers. See link below:
The different colors of Gideon New Testament Bibles typically represent various purposes or target audiences. For instance, orange Bibles are often used for outreach to children or youth, as they are visually appealing and engaging for younger readers. Each color is designed to meet specific needs in sharing the message of the Bible effectively. If you are looking to order orange Gideon Bibles, you would typically contact your local Gideons International chapter or their official website for assistance.
The most common are bright Red, but they are also available in a bright Green. I do not know the reason why they changed the colour: whether it was due to fashion, was less-ostentacious, a different print run or version, or confusion with Mao's "Little Red Book".
