In the King James version:

  • The word 'sex' doesn't appear at all.
  • while that is true it does appear in every other modern translation since including the New King James version. The reason it doesn't appear in the King James version is that the word 'sex' in terms of intimate relationship between a man and a woman did not come into use until nearly 200 years after the King James version was written. The King James Bible was translated between 1604 and 1611. The word 'sex' was first used around in the 1400's but it meant to divide (like a sextant) and the term wasn't in use for an intimate relationship between a man and woman until the 1800's.

In the New King James Version: 24 times

In the New Revised Standard Version: nearly 40 times

In the New International Version: 77 times

In the New Living Translation: 96 times

In the Common English Bible: 125 times

In the New Life Version: 137 times

(all newer translations based on older documents published in the last 40 years)
