no. Hercules was an English mastiff. hooch is a bordeaux mastiff
Yes, a Dogue de Bordeaux, also known as a French Mastiff.
Assuming the question is relating to the 1989 Tom Hanks film: Turner & Hooch, Hooch's (a French Mastiff) real name was Beasley.
There is only one English mastiff in particular but there are quite a few different types of mass tiffs in general such as the French mastiff, the South African mastiff, the Italiano mastiff, the Neapolitan mastiff, I remember reading somewhere there’s a Spanish mastiff, and then you have the English mass tiff of course. Dog from Turner and hooch was a French mastiff, I personally have Italian mastiff and an old friend of mine had the biggest of the big, the South African mastiff, even larger than the English mastiff . And believe me when I say the dog was huge! But those are the types that I can think about off the top of my head and they all have very different looks to them.
In the 1989 movie Turner and Hooch, Tom Hanks' character Turner says, "This is not your room" to his canine partner, Hooch.

That was a "dogue de bourdeaux". I hope I have the spelling correct. A lot of people thought it was a Bullmastiff but it was not. The pups shown at the end of the movie were actually bullmastiffs but Hooch was a dogue de bourdeaux, a French Mastiff. They have been recognized fairly recently by the American Kennel Club as a breed in the Unites States and now can be shown in the AKC shows.
The owner of the dog Hooch in the movie "Turner & Hooch" was Detective Scott Turner, played by Tom Hanks. The movie follows their comedic partnership as they work together to solve a crime.
