Since Enlightenment 'philosophy' and 'science' became dominating religions in Western Culture.
In European Enlightenment (Age of Reason, = 17th century) a new religion was erected (in Holland) in Europe: the church of science, closely connected to Calvinism. The church of science copied a lot from Catholicism: schools as churches, universities as cathedrals, teachers as priest of reason, professors as highpriests, ratio as god. New credo: life = pure reason (very much Aristotelian).
The church of science from the very start was split in a moderate part that was open to change and in a puritan part. The part open to change evolved to modern science, but is a church nevertheless.
Puritanism in hard shape fled from Europe to the New World. In Europe hard Puritanism (Lutheranism, Calvinism) disappeared to the background, but in America it was the driving force behind slavery, Industrialism, Capitalism, Klu Klux Klan, ...
American Rationalism directly evolved out of hard Puritanism. After WWII American rationalism conquered Europe, and indoctrinated the new class of pro America Middle East dictators.
'Rational' Law and Order became a perfect excuse for 2nd rate leaders to forget about common sense and to do whatever they wanted. All that was needed was an own 'rational logic.
It is clear that the trio KNOWER - KNOWN - KNOWLEDGE is all past and time bound. If there is no transformation to intelligence, this knowledge remains a mere tin. Formulas require explanation. Explanation may be in the shape of a song, dance, and drama but there is every chance of deriving mythical ideology, so to save from this kind of diversions, there is philosophical enquiry. Enquiry is full of logic, which is based on mathematics, when not used in conjunction of subject, express disastrous and conflicting statement
Knowledge is a cluster of statements. Essence of accumulated knowledge is called as intuition, which instigate, HOW? Word as is an image and its produced image is mounted upon primary image. Two lifeless images are interacting because of sound.
The whole of thought process depends on calculation. Movement of thought is calculation, covered by smoke, mirror is covered by dust, but smoke is taken for granted as fire. Since there is no clear distinction between factuality and reality, all suffocated ideas are expressed as real.
Philosophy explores all of this and much more.It touches the roots of human intellect and save him from wrong knowledge.Philosophy provides wisdom for the accrued intellect.
its a tricky quetion. different people have different prospective to it.
Philosophy in life is how you apply certain philosophy to individual life. So if your philosophy is "treat others the way you want to be treated" the question is what does that look like when it is lived out?
or there is a short story kind of think by the name 'The Rattrap'. There the tramp puts his so called philosophy of life or universe but what he says is not wrong either. He says
"the whole world with its lands and seas, its cities and villages was nothing but a big rat trap. It had never existed for any other purpose than to set baits for people. It offered riches and joys, shelter and food, heat and clothing, exactly as the rat trap offered cheese and pork, and as soon as anyone let himself be tempted to touch the bait, it closed in on him, and then everything came to an end."
There are millions of quotes out there on the net but that's their thinking towards their life.
But if you want go ahead read them or just go to wikipedia.
I hope i helped :)
In a word, 'No'. Is there any need to say anything else? Do I discourse on the many faceted other osophies and ologies, and their impact on human history, present and future?
Well, I won't do it. Is that a solution to man's problem? Just don't do it. Negate Man's problem in your perception, and it no longer exists...subjectively, at least...of course, when a thermonuclear warhead lands in your back garden, it doesn't matter how much you negate your senses, you're getting one hell of a reminder that denial and yes, even philosophising, don't offer a solution to man's problem :P
What is man's problem anyway? Tell him to chill out and listen to some good sounds...at least until terrorists burst thru his door and massacre his whole family.
That's it. Sorry for crashing your party.
:D
Ok, I apologise for my irreverent post. I mean no offence...it's my first and the question is kind of limited...in that you can give a one word answer. But even so, of course and obviously philosophy is not a solution to man's problem...because there is no statement of what man's problem is. It is vague and too generalised...man's problem(s) would be more fitting. You may think I'm being pedantic, maybe, but there is a clear difference between the questions.
We all know man's problems, plural, but to identify man's one defining problem...well, I'll leave it to a better man than I to answer.
Maybe someone would like to elaborate on the issue...
Craigy Baby.
The study of man and its philosophy in life is the philosophy of man. It is subdivided into several branches that include ethics.
It is not.
Man created philosophy, hence it's flawed.

The study of philosophy covers a wide range of topics, including metaphysics, ethics, and epistemology, while the philosophy of man specifically focuses on human nature, existence, and the relationship between individuals and society. In essence, the philosophy of man is a subset within the broader field of philosophy that emphasizes understanding human experience and behavior.
Describe how Hyper Calvinism is a man made philosophy not in the scriptures?
Man's philosophy explores topics like existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. God's philosophy typically addresses questions about the nature, characteristics, and existence of a higher being, along with the implications of this entity for human life and society. Both philosophies have a rich history and continue to inspire deep reflection and debate among thinkers.
Studying the philosophy of man makes him study about himself. It enhances the knowledge and attitudes of the man about himself and about others. When the man learns the philosophy of man, he would autonomously cultivate a set of good qualities in him and in the long run, he might try to inculcate them to others' minds as well.+1Answers.comAnswers.com
I. I Mechnikov has written: 'The nature of man' -- subject(s): Medical Philosophy, Medicine, Philosophy, Philosophy, Medical
Philosophy is a fictitious subject because it depends upon the superiority of logic. The experiences are differing man to man based on witnesses.
Man is the only animal known to examine his world in a rational and questioning way. Intelligence, its cause, and its meaning are the basis for philosophy.
