Traditional grammar is prescriptive in nature. Its tendency to provide rules to be followed proves futile for grammarians to make changes in it.

fortunately traditional grammar has remained to be the beacon of other grammars. Its rules forms the basis for classification and analysis of other languages

Strength of traditional Grammer,

I) traditional Grammer established the eight parts of speech.i.e nouns,verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, interjections, conjunctions and pronouns.

ii) traditional Grammer dominated the education system,it improved student writing by making it more systematic and well ordered.

Weakness

i)it is prescriptive. ii)did not view individual language as unique linguistic system,but more concerned with legislating on how people should speak and write that language iii)it is not able to stand alone as a discipline.it is influenced by other disciples, particularly philosophy.
