There are a whole bunch of English translations...Matthew Arnold (great Victorian poet) argued that the best translation would be rhyming in hexameters like the original Iliad which was done in Homeric Greek (pretty cool to have a language style named after you). I guess the best thing to do would be to learn ancient, archaic languages like a couple friends of mine (ah, to have the time to learn Aramaic)...but I'm the type of guy who can live with the translations...although El Cid was pretty cool when I had to translate it in Spanish class.
