Between about 1830 and 1914 a very large number of Germans left Germany and settled in the U.S. By far the most important reason was economic - lack of opportunities in Germany. Many parts of Germany were relatively poor at the time, especially south-West Germany.


The numbers migrating to the U.S. were so great that in 1847 a group of Hamburg shipowners and others established the first transatlantic shipping line (HAPAG) - that had regular sailings to New York and other ports (instead of simply setting off when the ship was full).


Other reasons included the political order in Germany, which was autocratic.
Obviously, all this is only a starting point and the reasons for your ancestors' decision to migrate may be quite different.

For food and a matter place to live to see thei family and because they were not treated well as the others were and that is way the germans left thei homeland
