Why did France join World War I?

France had an alliance with Russia who had an alliance with Serbia. A Serbian nationalist named Gavrilo Princip assassanted Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife.

France got involved in World War 1 because Austria-Hungary said that they would attack them if they did not fight. But when they joined the war many many people got killed and then they regretted even getting involved in this sort of mess. Other words they thought that they should just give up. But they didn't they went all the way through. It's amazing huh what I know is something special. When they went all the way through that war they thought that they were going to die, but they didn't they were alive. But now they are dead now.........I feel really bad for them because they were set up. When they were done with the war and they went home to their family, the other people of the war cam into their country and killed the people that lived. Now that is really sad but oh well.

The reason France joined World War 1 is because of an alliance with Russia. When Russia went to war with Germany and Austria/Hungary France felt inclined to join in as France is part of the triple entente/franco-russian alliance. hope i helped :)

Well in at that time England, France and Russia were allianced..so if Russia had a war with a country England an Russia would join in..but that is not really the answer why France joined in..Germany got a army together and went to invade France and it just sparked from there Russia helped France and England got involved..then cam Italy and Austria-Hungry and then cam the US and before we new it the whole world was at war
