Tony Blair was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 2002.
He had been in office since winning a landslide victory against the Conservatives in the election of May 1997.
He supported US military action against Afghanistan following the World Trade Centre Disaster, but also took Britain into war with Iraq in support of the USA, which was illegal under international law and led to massive unpopularity at home. He never recovered from this notoriety, especially as it led to the terrorist bomb attacks on the London transport network on 7th July 2005, which saw 51 people killed.
Blair never apologised for his actions, and had an increased tendency to behave like a dictator, using bouncers to drag his opponents from the room at political conferences and in some cases, tabling political proposals that were on the verge of being extreme right. This created such public hatred, and such opposition within his own party, that he was forced to resign on 11th May 2007, exactly ten years to the day since taking office.

Taken from Wikipedia.org: Suryavarman II (King of the Khmer Empire from 1113 A.D. to 1145-1150 A.D. and the builder of Angkor Wat). His reign's monumental architecture, numerous military campaigns and restoration of strong government have led historians to rank Suryavarman as one of the empire's greatest kings. During his decades in power, the king reunited the empire, reversing many of the benign policies of his predecessor. After the war that Cambodia had gone through, the temple has been pulling millions of tourists every year. Still growing strong at more than 4 million tourists in the year 2007. I like to think that without the temple, Cambodia would have hardly survive.

As a result, Major became the leader of the Conservative Party and thus prime minister. Major's role as prime minister saw him lead negotiations in the formation of the EU, as well as participating in the Gulf War and the crisis in Serbia. However, the public's continued disenchantment with the Conservative Party after 17 years led to a large victory for Labour in the 1997 elections. Major would continue on as Leader of the Opposition for a few months before resigning. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland contains England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which do not have separate prime ministers.
