Probably Aristotle; that's just the sort of ego-maniacal stupid thing he would have said.

Just so you'll know; Aristotle was wrong on almost EVERYTHING that he said. His physics were bad, and his Biology was terrible. If Aristotle had been a farmer instead of a philosopher, he probably would have starved to death, because he would have been a failure as a farmer.

It took the world 1500 years to shake off Aristotle's malign influences.

Protagoras apparently said it thousands of years ago.
