Who is called the Rashtrapitamah ie the Grandfather of India?

Though constitutionally it has not been declared that Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati is the Rashtrapitamah of India but the people and the nation, believe and say, that Swami Dayanand Saraswati the founder of Arya samaj is the Grandfather of India.Swami Dayanand had proclaimed India for Indians in 1876 (Commentry on Yajurveda -Lazarus Press Banaras 1876). It was his teachings and the book Satyarth Prakash that inspired leaders, scholars, reformers and revolutioneries like Aurobindo Ghosh, Dadabhoy Naroaji, Lokmanya Tilak for the Independence movement.Swami Dayanand's disciple Shyamji Krishan Verma who founded India House in London inspired Madam Cama, Ver Sawarkar, Lala Hardyal, Madan Lal Dhingra, Bhagat Singh etc. who laid down their lives for the independence of India.Alan Octavian Hume, founder of Indian National Congress (that professes the party to be the fore-runner of the freedom struggle) and Annie Besant, the first President had declared that Swami Dayanand laid the foundation of the Freedom movement.Another View:It was for some political situations and compulsions that Mahatma Gandhi was declared Father of the Nation which title swami Dayanand deserved. That is why and how Ananthswami Ayyangar the first Speaker of Indian Parliament and the that time President of the ruling party Indian Nationlal Congress Pattabhi Sitaramayya had to say that Gandhi is the Father of the Nation and Dayanand is the Grandfather of the Nation because Gandhi reaped what Dayanand had sown.

A person, a leader or a philosopher who has guided, been the idol or a protector of the Rashtrapita. Or alternatively, on whose lines the Rashtrapita has learnt, followed, practised and carried out the mission for the freedom, construction and development of the nation. 'Rashtrapitamah sows the seeds for the Nation and Rashtrapita reaps'.Reviewing the historical facts and happenings, it can be judged that it is Swami Dayanand Saraswati, founder of Arya Samaj, who inspired millions of Indians to fight for the freedom of India deserves to be called Rashtrapitamah. Because of his teachings, out of the freedom fighters and revolutionaries 70% people were from Arya samaj only who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India. How it is true that Swami Dayanand Saraswati is called Rashtrapitamah?

Though this has not been officially declared, but Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of Arya Samaj is considered as the 'Rashtrapitamah' as he laid the foundation of the freedom movement in India and Mahatma Gandhi followed his path to get India's independence. Mahatma Gandhi, the Rashtrapita (Father of the Nation) is said to have reaped what Swami Dayanand Saraswati had sown for the Nation for its freedom (Swarajya). Since, Mahatma Gandhi has been declared as Rashtrapita (Father of Nation), Swami Dayanand for sure can be called Rashtrapitamah (Grandfather of Nation) - he being a social and political father of the 'Father of the Nation' (Rashtrapita). Gandhi said that Balganga Dhar Tilak was his political Guru and Tilak had learnt the lessons of Swarajya from Dada Bhoi Naroaji whereas it is the historical fact that Naroaji had learnt these lessons from Swami Dayanand Saraswati through his writings (Satyarth Prakash) as the historians write. Gandhi's practice of Ahimsa, Nonviolence, Truth, his fight against untouchability and emancipation of women and their education were all the givings and teachings of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. So it is but imperative that Swami Dayanand Saraswati be addressed and called as Grandfather of Indian Nation or Rashtrapitamah.
