The conclusion of the Declaration of Independence states that the United States of America is now an independent nation, free from British rule, and that the signers of the document pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to defend and uphold the principles outlined in the declaration.
The purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to tell the world that the colonies were now independent states. It states all the reasons why they should be free. The people have a duty to abolish a government that does not protect their rights, King George had become a Tyrant.
The importance was that the Nation was now free, so the people were also free, so independence day is the day we celebrate freedom!

The document the Colonists sent to King George was the Declaration of Independence. It stated the concerns, and grievances against the king and declared the wish for independence from Britain.
The Declaration of Independence shows what the USA will not put up with then and now. The Colonies were tired of GB telling them what to do. Without the Declaration we would not be free today. The Declaration pretty much told GB that they were willing to wadge war against them and the Colonies won, which is why we are free today. The Declaration of Independence is the reason for the Constitution.
