France does not have an Independence Day. France has been independent since the Romans left. In France there is a National Festival (Fête Nationale) called in English Bastille Day, which is on July 14.

There is no independence day in France, since it has always been independent from the start. The nearest equivalent is Bastille Day, on the 14th of July. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille, a fortress and prison in Paris. That event is for historians, the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789.

Bastille Day is the Independence Day of France because that is when the peasants revolted against the king, this the peasants became free. The Bastille was the prison where those that opposed the king were held.
