History is the singular, histories is the plural. A lot of people mistakenly use the singular when it should be the plural, however.
Let me give you an example:
England has a strong naval history. - England is singular, therefore 'history' is used.
England and France have strong naval histories. - Two separate histories belonging to two different countries, so the plural is used.
One patient's medical history, but two patients' medical histories.
The singular nouns are history and historian. The plural nouns are histories and historians. The adjective forms are historic and historical. The adverb form is historically.
