I HAD FAMILY THAT SURVIVED THE HORRORS OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR AND LIVED IN BERLIN DURING AND RIGHT AFTER THE WAR. THE WHOLE OF Germany WAS IN RUBBLE-BERLIN AND HAMBURG WERE MORE THAT 90% DESTROYED MOSTLY BY ALLIED BOMBING RAIDS. FOOD WAS IN SHORT SUPPLY AND THERE WAS A TERRIBLE SHORTAGE OF HOUSING WHICH CAUSED MANY PEOPLE TO DIE OF EXPOSURE AND HUNGER ESPECIALLY DURING THE WINTER OF 1945-46 WHICH HAPPENED TO BE THE COLDEST WINTER IN OVER 100 YEARS! IT WAS HELL FOR MAJORITY OF THE URBAN POPULATION AND WHICH LASTED FOR SEVERAL YEARS. ONE MUST KEEP IN MIND, THAT GERMANY LOST OVER 5 MILLION MEN DEAD AND IN SOVIET PRISON CAMPS-SO GERMANY HAD TO SEEK HELP TO REBUILD BY PURSUADING THE TURKS, ITALIANS, AND OTHERS TO RELOCATE ESPECIALLY TO BERLIN TO REBUILD-THATS REASON WHY THERE IS A HUGE TURKISH POPULATION IN BERLIN FOR EXAMPLE. ITS BECAUSE OF THE HORRORS THAT THE GERMAN PEOPLE EXPERIENCED DURING AND RIGHT AFTER THE WAR THAT THERE IS TODAY A STRONG PACIFIST SENTIMENT-NOBODY IN GERMANY NEVER AGAIN WANTS ANOTHER WAR!!!

The military defeat was total. The country was under Allied rule, Germany was ruined and was morally bankrupt.

However, thanks largely to the Cold War, West Germany achieved a remarkable recovery.

Germany was a happy and strong country that believed in Hitler after he rebuilt it in the aftermath of World War I, however a while after WWII started, the people started to dislike him due to his strict rules, his terror tactics and his excessive anit-semitism, as well as dragging Germany into another war which brought nothing but bombings to cities.

When did Hitler take power of Germany?

When I don't know But Hitler did come to power when Germany was in economic crisis and Hitler took advantage promising a "better economy". The economic crisis in Germany was due to the unjust conditions which were placed on Germany for supposedly "Attacking" the world during World War I and because of it, Germans became bitter towards other nations and was one of the reasons why World War II resulted.
