Korea had absolutely no choice but to be on the Axis side in World War 2. Korea was captured by Japan in the Russo-Japanese War of 1905, and it was officially annexed by Japan in 1910. In Europe, Czechoslovakia received a similar deal from Germany, but Korea had been under the Japanese heel for much longer when World War 2 began.

China remained neutral in the war until August 14, 1917 in which they declared war on the central powers. Their main two reasons for declaring war were; to gain the right to seize enemy (primarily German ships) and also for money. The world knew that the Allies were in great need of labor. In particular, France who was taking the full blunt of the war. Immediately after the declaration China and France signed a contract for 50,000 labormen in return for money. China was just out of a costly revolution and greatly neede the money for defenses and such.
