Did people safe during apartheid?

Yes, South Africa practiced capital punishment under apartheid, although it was suspended (never to be resumed) in 1989, after F W de Klerk assumed the presidency. A few bantustans continued to practice it into 1991. Legal executions in South Africa was reserved for the gravest of offenses which could have been treated equally in other western countries, although starting in the 1960s, several executions took place which were considered to be political, i.e. as a deterrent for other opponents of the regime. Nelson Mandela was expected to receive a death sentence in the Rivonia Trial in 1964 for treason and sabotage, although ultimately the judge chose life imprisonment instead. At least one of the victims of a "political" execution was John Frederick Harris in 1965, who had bombed the Johannesburg Railway Station the year before, killing one person and injuring 23. Mainly in the 1980s (but also in Soweto in the 1970s, for example), South Africans and foreign nationals were extrajudicially killed by the government, more or less deliberately, without due process, in order to silence opposition and deter others. Black resistance groups also perpetrated extrajudicial executions (read necklacing), and sometimes blacks were paid to do the government's deeds and thus lay the blame on opposition groups, so a certain gray area exists. White anti-government groups (such as the AWB) and individuals also committed atrocities (such as the murder of Chris Hani) which could well be labeled "executions", depending upon your definition.

Who were the terrorist that attacked the twin towers what are their names?

Fifteen of the 19 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia. Two were from the United ArabEmirates, one was from Lebanon, and one was from Egypt. Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi, and Ziad Jarrah, Hani Hanjour were the names of the pilots.

Who blew up the Twin Towers?

Firstly, the twin towers were not blown up. They were destroyed as a result of severe structural damage inflicted upon them by suicidal terrorists piloting hijacked commercial passenger airplanes. The sponsor of these terrorists seems to be the Al-Qaeda organization, originally founded and led (up until his death), by a Saudi exile named Osama Bin Laden.Certain people dispute this attribution, claiming one of a variety of other explanations, but the vast majority of current evidence backs the claims of Al-Qaeda for responsibility (this is not to say there aren't inconsistencies in the evidence, but rather, that no other explanation of the attack comes even remotely close to fitting the existing facts as the theory holding Al-Qaeda responsible).Osama bin Laden is believed to be the mastermind behind the 9-11 attacks. Also, the Twin Towers were not "blown up." Planes were flown into the Towers, which caused them to collapse. No bomb was used. However, a bomb was used in a previous, unsuccessful attempt to destroy the Towers, in 1993.AMERICAN AIRLINES #77BOEING 7571) Khalid Almihdhar - Possible Saudi national-Possible resident of San Diego, California, and New York-Alias: Sannan Al-Makki; Khalid Bin Muhammad; 'Addallah Al-Mihdhar; Khalid Mohammad Al-Saqaf2) Majed Moqed - Possible Saudi national-Alias: Majed M.GH Moqed; Majed Moqed, Majed Mashaan Moqed3) Nawaf Alhazmi - Possible Saudi national-Possible resident of Fort Lee, New Jersey; Wayne, New Jersey; San Diego, California-Alias: Nawaf Al-Hazmi; Nawaf Al Hazmi; Nawaf M.S. They were operatives from the terrorist organization Al Qaeda, a radical Muslim group headed by Osama bin Laden and based (then) in Afghanistan, where bin Laden's Taliban controlled the government.

How did Al-Qaeda get past airport security?

They weren't carrying anything that Airport security was looking for. They used sharp objects instead of guns and bombs which is why you can no longer carry sharp objects through security (ie) Mirror knives etc
