Oh, dude, the highest scoring NFL game ever was on November 27, 1966, between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. The final score was 72-41 in favor of Washington, like, can you imagine the defense just taking a nap during that game? It's like they forgot they were playing football!

Well, honey, the highest scoring NFL game ever was a wild one between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants back in 1966. Those boys put up a whopping 113 points combined, with the Redskins coming out on top 72-41. It was a real shootout, like the OK Corral but with more padding and less cowboy hats.

The Highest scoring football games in College and the NFL:

College:

10/7/1916 - Georgia Tech 222 Cumberland 0

The Georgia Tech team faced a Cumberland Bulldogs squad that was all but defunct. The school had actually disbanded the team at the beginning of the season. In its place the Bulldogs fielded a team of walk-ons lead by a student manager, George E. Allen (Not the famous NFL Football Coach), who were crushed by the John Heisman lead Georgia Tech Engineers. The Engineers scored 32 touch downs, and converted all but 2 pat's.

NFL:

11/27/1966 - Washington Redskins 72 New York Giants 41

The Beasts of the East met on the turf at the District of Columbia Stadium that fateful day in November of 1966. It was a nice day, a balmy 42 degrees with a light 5 mph wind.

The Otto Graham led Redskins started strong, jumping out to a 20-0 lead. The Giants tried to keep pace, finally scoring their first td in the 2nd quarter. The Redskins were having nothing of it, adding two more touchdowns. The ever-game Giants caught a break and scored a pair of touchdowns, closing the gap 21-34 at the beginning of the 3rd quarter.

While the Giants tried valiantly to catch up to the Redskins, it wasn't in the cards. The Redskins were just too good on that day. They scored 5 more touch downs and a field goal, while the G-Men were able to only muster up 3 more touchdowns. In total there were 16 touchdowns and 1 field goal scored, the highest scoring game in NFL History.

Redskins Coach Otto Graham quipped afterwards "It was a great defensive battle."
