General Sam Houston led his army east, avoiding a conflict with the main Mexican army. This gave him time to build up the army some. Eventually, the Mexican army and Gen. Houston's army met up near the present-day city of Houston.

Houston and his men won an overwhelming victory at the Battle of San Jacinto, capturing the leader of the Mexican army, Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who surrendered to Gen. Houston.

After the Battle of the Alamo, the survivors were killed except for a slave. The Mexican Army traveled on to San Jacinto near present day Houston. In the afternoon while the Mexican Army took its siesta, an army under Sam Houston attacked. The Mexican President, Santa Ana, was captured in his pajamas.

What happened was that the Mexicans raided the Alamo at night Killed many soldiers, leaders, and Davy Crockett. However everybody at the Fort knew they were outnumbered, outgunned, and knew certain death was coming at night. But they still bravely fought the Mexicans and took some out with them. With the fall of the Alamo the moral of the the Texans skyrocketed, which helped them defeat the Mexicans.

The Alamo was a building in San Antonio in 1836. The US colonists who wanted to break away from Mexico gathered there when the Mexican army surrounded the town. In the battle all the inhabitants were massacred except those who were taken prison and tortured to death, as reported later by Mexican soldiers who were there. The slogan for the other colonists was 'remember the Alamo!' The revolt ended with the independence of the Texas Republic.

The Texacans (not the crew from the Alamo) had another battle(can't remember the name) with the Mexicans still under Generalisimo Santa Anna. General Houston(I think?) and about 1200 men killed a large number of Mexican troops for the general to move out after calling a treaty
