D-Day was a landing of Allied troops onto the shores of France (France was occupied by Germany). Much like the landings in the Pacific...Guam, Saipan, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Leyte, etc. Pearl Harbor was NOT a landing. It was an aerial attack; the enemy struck...then departed.

D-Day was an offensive by several countries, namely Britain and the USA to establish a beach head for the Allies to liberate France from the Germans. Many casualties were sustained on both sides, but the Germans were pushed back.

Pearl Harbour was an offensive by the Japanese Air Force which was planned to reduced the USA's fleet strength. It was majorly successful on the part of the Japanese.

Similar in that they were both a success. The difference was that in the

attacks on Malaya, the Japanese were there to occupy, claim and exploit

the Natural Resources.
