Most laptops are assembled in China by ASUStek.

The consumer grade desktops are most commonly manufactured in China and Mexico, while custom orders and former VooDoo PCs were assembled in the United States.

HP's business line of desktops (HP Compaq) are manufactured in Mexico, and The United States. HP's workstation (Z series), and servers are manufactured in the United States at HP's Houston, TX facility.

Many of their servers are assembled in other factories that have contracts with HP. One example is Foxconn originaly from China but have factories in many other countries. I worked at Foxconn in Czech Republic for example, in Kutna Hora. It sucked :))
